Agent/Casting director workshops
STARTS: Thursdays - July 15, 2010
Purpose:
The purpose of this workshop is to empower actors in creating a successful career. In each unique session, members will meet and read for two industry pros per class (theatrical or commercial CD and an agent). The actor’s talent will get exposure and they will obtain constructive feedback to perpetuate growth in their Cold Reading and Commercial auditions plus receive a stronger understanding of the business of acting.

Time Frame: 7pm – 10:30 pm
Structure:
• An Agent or a Manager will open the class offering acting business insights and tips then he/she will do a short Q & A. Each Guest will focus on a specific topic requested in advance by the majority of the participants or by the staff - (30 Minutes).
• Depending on the focus of the workshops, actors will then either do a 3-minute rehearsed scene or rehearsed commercial copy (45 Minutes) for the An Agent or Manager.
• When it can be arranged, a Casting Director will show up 30 minutes into the class before the actors do their rehearsed scenes so he/she can (when possible) watch and evaluate. After the set scenes, actors will do their cold read scene or commercial copy for the CD and receive direction The Agent or Manager (when it can be arranged), who started the evening will also stay, watch and evaluate.
• In the last ½ hour of the workshop, the CD will do a Q & A and wrap up the evening.
• Both industry guests will fill out forms evaluating the set scenes and cold readings, which will be given to the actors at the end of the evening.
ON-CAMERA Theatrical Audition Workshop w/Jim Holmes

This comprehensive workshop is designed to advance the skills of the actor in preparation for Film & TV auditions. All sessions are on camera so that the work and progress can be recorded. All work will be burned on a DVD (which the student provides) that can be taken home.
This wrkshop offers skills to handle audition entrances and exits successfully.
- Students will learn:
- How to quickly discover the central conflict in the scene and make the necessary decisions to focus their “actor intentions.” (As an actor we are constantly sending and receiving. If we don’t understand the main problem in a scene we can’t focus our listening and tactical strategies to solve the problem because we are distracted by a lack of clarity, nerves and self consciousness.)
- How to choose an objective
- How to explore the details of a scene to connect with the audition material on a personal level.
- Mr. Holmes will also teach effective ways to deal with nerves, the size of the room, reading with casting directors and taking adjustments.
- In the last workshop, students will do their final scenes for a top Casting Director.
Only actors with intermediate acting level skills or better will be invited to participate.

FILM and TV AUDITION WORKSHOP

Amy Van Horne teaches this comprehensive, on-camera, eight week workshop designed to prepare the professional actor to do winning auditions for film and TV roles. The first four weeks will focus on the necessary auditioning tools. Then Amy will apply the techniques to realistic auditions. During the last two weeks, two Film and/or TV Casting Director will each guest one night. Actors will work one at a time with a reader to best duplicate most TV and film audition situations.

MULTIMEDIA AUDITION TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP

This innovative, on-camera workshop
for the professional actor utilizes top cold reading teachers
and Casting Directors to improve your audition skills in the four
specific mediums. In each section, a top cold reading specialist
will teach their audition technique for two weeks followed by
a Casting Director in that medium giving valuable one-on-one insights,
information and critiques. By invitation only.
- The first three weeks will focus on
auditioning for THEATER
- The next section will have a specialized
focus for SITCOM
- These three weeks will specialize in
SOAPS
- The final three week section will focus
on FILM/TV
There is always the possibility
that the teachers and Casting Directors that
are set might have to cancel and be replaced
with comparable people or maybe even have
to reschedule dates. So please do not sign
up to work with any specific person but for
the whole experience and the specialized training.
